4-Step Recipe for Church Capital Campaign Landing Pages That Work

4-Step Recipe for Church Capital Campaign Landing Pages That Work

A church capital campaign isn’t just about raising funds for a budget. It’s a passion project to enable work that matters for eternity—serving people and spreading hope. Does your capital campaign landing page reflect that? Here’s a four-step recipe to ensure your mission shines through, even if it’s your first time creating one.

1. Begin with your base: words

Words move people to act. They’re the foundation of your landing page.

To spark inspiration, set a timer for 10 minutes and write down everything about your campaign—why it matters, who it helps, what it will achieve, and the opportunities it brings. Handwriting is ideal, but typing works too. This brain dump will fuel your outline.

Here’s how to write effectively:

  • Be clear. Forget cleverness—clarity wins. Use specific details (e.g., “new 23-room children’s center” instead of “new building”). Answer common questions like “What will the funds do?” or “Why now?”
  • Be conversational. Avoid jargon like “synergize” or long-winded sentences. Use short words, short sentences, and contractions. Write as if you’re talking to one person from your church.
  • Make it emotional. Emotions drive decisions, logic justifies them. Instead of “We need a new building,” say, “Help us bring the next generation closer to hope,” then describe how a safe, nurturing space will impact lives.
  • Edit ruthlessly. Trim excess words. Read aloud to catch clunky phrases. Wait 24 hours before editing to see it with fresh eyes.

2. Sprinkle in extra flavor: images + video

Help people see the vision. For a new building, share architect renderings or construction progress photos. For community outreach, show the people serving and those being served.

Brainstorm images you’d want to see if you knew nothing about the project. For inspiration, explore Unsplash’s collection of community images.

Videos don’t need to be Hollywood-level. A passionate speaker recorded on a steady smartphone can connect deeply.

3. Prepare the presentation: design

A great design makes your content inviting; a bad one pushes people away.

  • Use your website builder’s templates for professional fonts and colors.
  • Match the landing page’s look to your main site for consistency.
  • Center your headline and use subheadings for easy scanning.
  • Keep the layout clean and digestible.

4. Serve the dish: giving button

Make giving easy. Place a clear, clickable “Donate” button on the page. If the page is long, add buttons at key spots—like near an image gallery—but don’t overdo it (two or three max).

Use a contrasting color for the button to make it stand out.

Follow these four steps, and your church’s capital campaign landing page will inspire action and advance your mission.
