Why is the event screen blank when you click on Check-In?

Because you do not have any events setup for that day.

Let me explain:
Check-In looks at the event information, like the Time, Room and Day of the Event. If your event is Sunday School and it only occures on Sunday and you are searching for an event on a day other than Sunday, it will not show.
